H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, met with the Director of African Centre for Statistics at UNECA, Oliver Chinganya and Chief of Demographic and Social Statistics, William Muhwava, to discuss strengthening Somalia’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system. The meeting focused on improving governance, public services, and demographic data accuracy.
UNECA reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s CRVS development through technical expertise and capacity-building. Minister Fiqi emphasized the government’s commitment to modernizing civil registration for better legal identity documentation and service access.
This engagement highlights ongoing efforts to enhance institutional collaboration and Somalia’s digital transformation in civil registration.
